Creative School

Hearts for Loving, Hands for Learning

The Creative School is a non-profit school and a ministry of  Walnut Hill United Methodist Church. Educating children in north Dallas for over 50 years, we offer programs for children from 2 years of age through Prekindergarden 4s. We operate on a 9 month calendar, September – May.

Our morning preschool hours are 9 A.M.  – 12 noon with an optional extended program until 2 pm. We provide a secure and Christian environment that encourages children to learn and grow.

Our preschool curriculum is developmentally appropriate and addresses all areas of early childhood development including: literacy, math, science, art and fine motor. Enrichment classes include Music and Movement, Spanish, and Library. Our older children also attend a weekly chapel service.

About Ms. Rocha:

I have been teaching at Creative School since 2002, and have worn many hats here. I have been a teacher of the Twos, Older Twos, Threes, the librarian, and this year, I will begin teaching the four-day Four’s class.

I have a B.A. in English from Southern Methodist University, and many hours of Elementary Education from SMU as well. I am a native Dallasite, and graduated from W.T. White High School. My children are twelve and four years old, and have been a part of Creative School as well. My son went all the way through to Kindergarten before going off to St. Monica, and my daughter will be starting her fourth year with us in the Monday-Thursday Four’s class!

Nurturing children and facilitating learning through play are my passions. Creating a safe and happy environment that is organized with tools for success is my main objective as a pre-k teacher. My hope is for my students to walk away at the end of the year with more confidence, self-assurance, and a love for learning as they leave us to go on to kindergarten or primer. I am looking forward to another fantastic year at WHUMC Creative School!
