Creative School

Hearts for Loving, Hands for Learning

The Creative School is a non-profit school and a ministry of  Walnut Hill United Methodist Church. Educating children in north Dallas for over 50 years, we offer programs for children from 2 years of age through Kindergarten. We operate on a 9 month calendar, September – May.

Our morning preschool hours are 9 A.M.  – 12 noon with an optional extended program until 2 pm. Kindergarten is from 9 A.M. until 2 P.M..We provide a secure and Christian environment that encourages children to learn and grow.

Our preschool curriculum is developmentally appropriate and addresses all areas of early childhood development including: literacy, math, science, art and fine motor. Enrichment classes include Music and Movement, Spanish, and Library. Our older children also attend a weekly chapel service.

About Ms. Elliott:

I have a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Texas - Austin and a M. ED. in Education of the Gifted and Talented from Boston College. I previously taught at Westminster Preschool and Kindergarten. In addition to my 4s class, I am currently a private tutor in fine motor and reading readiness, and enjoy teaching summer camps at ESD.

I am the oldest of eight children and always knew I wanted to be a teacher. (I also want to be a writer.) I have four grown children and four grandchildren (so far). They remind me that childhood is a brief and precious time!

I am passionate about early education and building the foundation. Imagination, books, puzzles and building things are my favorite tools. I believe in playful and purposeful learning.
