Music and Movement
A Note from your Music and Movement Teachers:
We have a great time while working on many developmental skills including: fine and gross motor development, sequencing, following directions, cooperation, sportsmanship, imagination, and self-esteem. This is accomplished through singing, dancing, creative play, games, and various activities. We use many different forms of media, including rhythm sticks, bells, hoops, beanie babies, balls, balloons, parachutes, instruments, and puppets…just to name a few. If your child doesn’t have fun in music, then we are not doing our job right!
We would appreciate your cooperation in sending your child to school with appropriate shoes. TENNIS SHOES are the best! Running, jumping, and playing on an obstacle course are too hard in cowboy boots, rain boots, flip flops, and even Natives. Let’s save these kinds of shoes for non-school days!
We have several opportunities for parents to see what we do in Music and Movement. In November, the 4 Year Old classes sing in the Thanksgiving Service. In December, all of the 3 and 4 Year Old classes participate in the Christmas Program. It is a great way to kick off the holiday season! Parents of the Young 2’s, 2’s, and Older 2’s can see a typical day in music for their child in the spring.
